Os nomeados para a edição de 2023 dos MTV Video Music Awards foram revelados esta terça-feira, 8 de agosto. Taylor Swift lidera o grupo com oito indicações, entre as quais “Artista do Ano” e “Música do Ano”. Segue-se SZA, com seis nomeações. Ambas as artistas concorrem para o prémio “Videoclip do Ano”, com Anti-Hero, de Taylor, e Kill Bill, de SZA.
Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus, Sam Smith e Kim Petras também se destacaram, estando empatados entre si com cinco nomeações. Anitta, que em 2022 se tornou a primeira artista brasileira a ganhar um prémio do VMAS, volta a ser uma grande referência na cerimônia. Com uma indicação para a categoria “Melhor Videoclip de Música Latina”, com o videoclip de Funk Rave, disputa o prémio contra Bad Bunny, Karol G, Shakira e Rosalía. Beyoncé, uma vez que não lançou nenhum videoclipe em torno do lançamento do seu mais recente álbum Renaissance, foi apenas indicada para o prémio de “Artista do Ano”.
GloRilla, Ice Spice, Boygenius, Peso Pluma e PinkPantheress são alguns dos 35 artistas que tiveram este ano a sua primeira indicação. Para além destes, alguns dos outros nomeados para o VMA de 2023 são Blackpink, Adele, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Lana Del Rey, Paramore, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato e Jonas Brothers.
Os vencedores do MTV Video Music Awards 2023 serão revelados dia 12 de setembro, no Prudential Center, em New Jersey. Os interessados em participar na decisão dos vencedores, podem votar nos seus artistas e videoclips favoritos através do site da MTV.
